The cornerstone of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church was laid on October 14, 1906.  Members of the congregation had previously been worshipping at Zion Lutheran Church in Bensenville, and at the Lutheran Teacher's Seminary chapel in Addison. The church is built in the shape of a cross, and the bell tower has an octagonal spire, with the cross symbol in brick on each of the eight sides. Services were conducted entirely in German until the early 1930's, when English services began to be offered as well. This continued until 1982, when services in German were discontinued.
