Employment at the Village

Employment opportunities at the Village of Addison vary widely and range from clerical to public safety, from part-time seasonal to department head.

The Village has six operating departments/divisions all geared, whether directly or indirectly, toward providing efficient, friendly service to all residents. The Mayor and Village Board of Trustees are committed to customer service and continually set higher standards for all employees.

Employee Benefits

The Village of Addison offers a very competitive compensation package to its 207 full-time and 59 part-time employees. All full-time employees have the choice of a PPO or HMO health/vision/dental plan, will be part of the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (with the exception of sworn officers of the Police Department), and provided term life insurance. Further, full-timers have the option of utilizing any of two deferred compensation plans.

How Do I Apply for a Position?

Aside from posting job opportunities on the Internet, the Village will also announce vacancies via the following: newspapers (i.e., the Addison Press and the Daily Herald), local cable access television (Channel 19), and postings on the bulletin board located on the lower level of the Village Hall.

People interested in applying for employment with the Village have many options from which to choose, as the following illustrates:

1. In Person

Applicants can apply for Village employment by coming to the Village Hall and picking up an application form from the information desk located on the lower level of the Village Hall. Applicants can also obtain a form in the Administration Office. Applications can be filled out there or brought home and returned at a later date, to:

The Human Resources Division does not administer the application/testing process for patrol officers. The process is governed under the rules developed by the Addison Board of Police Commissioners. Said Commission oversees the recruitment and selection of patrol officers.
