Weather Closings, Delays, Warming Centers

The frigid temperatures have caused closings and delays to several agencies.  Please share this information with neighbors, and remember to check in on those who may need assistance over the next several days.

  • Addison Elementary School District 4 and DuPage High School District 88 have cancelled school for Wednesday, Jan. 30 and Thursday, Jan. 31.
  • Republic Waste Services will delay garbage collection by one day, beginning on Wednesday, Jan. 30.  Wednesday's normal pickup will occur on Thursday, Thursday's pickup will occur on Friday, etc.
  • Addison Township will be open as a warming center at 401 N. Addison Road.  Extended hours in effect: open Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:30 PM until 8:00 AM the following morning.  Call 630-530-8161 for information.  
  • Addison Park District will also operate warming centers.  Centennial Rec Center/Club Fitness will be open 5:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.; Community Rec Center will be open 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.  They will act as warming centers ONLY; all other services (programs, workouts, etc.) will be closed on Wednesday, as will the golf dome.
  • Addison Public Library will close today, Tuesday, at 6 p.m., and will remain closed until 1 p.m. on Thursday.
