Weekly garbage service is provided by the Village’s contracted waste hauler,
Allied Waste/Republic Services. The Village is divided into five sections, with each
receiving unlimited garbage pickup on a different day, Monday through Friday. In
the event of a weekday holiday (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence
Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas only) garbage service will be delayed
one day for the rest of that week.
If you experience solid waste, recycling or landscape waste pickup problems, or have
questions, contact Allied Waste/Republic Services at 800-345-1408.
If further attention is
warranted, contact the Village's Public Works Environmental Services at 630/279-2140.

Allied Waste/Republic Services supplies, at no charge to residents, waste toters. These
two-wheeled carts should be placed at the curb with metal bar facing the
curb. Recyclable and landscape waste should not be placed in these
carts. Use of these carts is not mandatory, and additional waste will
continue to be picked up.
If you decide to use your own garbage containers, they should be no smaller than 10 gallons and no bigger than 30
gallons. Containers should be equipped with suitable handles and possess
close-fitting covers when plastic bags are not in use. Containers or bags should
never exceed 80 pounds or the hauler is not obligated to remove such excessive
waste.
Refuse may be placed at curbside no earlier than 6 p.m. the day prior to
collection, and containers must be retrieved no later than midnight following
the collection day.
Household Appliances
Residents placing large household appliances at the curb are encouraged to
contact the Village’s waste hauler, Allied Waste/Republic Services, at
800-345-1408 and inform the Customer Service of the item. The call to
Allied Waste will
expedite the removal process and ensure that such materials are picked up on the
regular garbage day.
Large household appliances include: refrigerators, air conditioners,
freezers, washing machines and dryers.
Automotive Batteries
Motor vehicle batteries were banned from Illinois landfills in 1990. Since
then, many auto supply stores have provided a disposal outlet for these
batteries.
Chicago Battery Recycling (CBR) is a free drop-off facility located at 105
Laura Drive. They accept wet lead acid batteries (found in cars, trucks,
motorcycles, etc.), lithium batteries (found in cell phones, lap tops, etc.),
lead cadmium based batteries, sealed lead acid batteries (found in computer back
up systems, fire alarms, etc.), wet/dry nickel cadmium/Ni-Cd (found in cordless
tools, two-way radios, and other rechargables) and nickel metal hydride
batteries. For questions of CBR, they can be reached at 630/833-1072.
Automobile Tires
Automobile tires can no longer be removed from curbside by Allied Waste/Republic
Services because they
are no longer accepted at landfills. Old tires should be brought to any tire
retailer, including Krage’s
Service Center, 191 E. Lake St. Retailers charge customers a marginal fee
ranging from $1 to $2.50 per tire for proper disposal.
Dumpster Rental
Rental of dumpsters must be done through the Village of Addison's contracted
waste hauler, Allied Waste/Republic Services. To arrange for this, call
800-345-1408. See also:
