Important Ordinances: Mailboxes

Mailboxes must be installed 42 inches above the ground, with the face of the mailbox 1 foot behind the back of curb. Often mailboxes are installed with the post 1 foot from the front of the curb, causing the mailbox to protrude into the street and into the path of Village snowplows.

Residents are urged to check their mailboxes to make sure they are installed in accordance with this guideline. Mailboxes failing to meet these specifications will not be repaired by the Village in the event they receive snowplow-related damage.
