Important Ordinances: Snow Routes
Following a snowfall of two inches or more, parking is prohibited on streets
designated as posted snow routes until snow removal procedures are completed.
Following a snowfall of four inches or more, parking is prohibited on all
streets until snow removal procedures are completed. Violators' automobiles will
be towed at the owner's expense. It is illegal to shovel or plow snow or ice
against a fire hydrant or regulatory sign, or onto the sidewalk
or street. Apartment or multi-unit residence owners are
responsible for clearing off-street parking spaces and parking
lots within 12 hours after a four-inch snowfall. Violators are
subject to fine.
Although there is no ordinance requiring it, residents will not only assist
police and fire personnel but can be of service to themselves by clearing snow
away from nearby fire hydrants to allow quick location and access to the hydrant
in the event of a fire, and by clearing snow off of house numbers and mailboxes
so that addresses are visible in the event of an emergency.
