SPECIAL TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT PERIOD
Crackdown on Illegal Passing Along Illinois Route 53
The Addison Police Department will conduct a Special Traffic Enforcement for
Vehicles illegally passing on the shoulder of Illinois Route 53/Rohlwing Road
between Lake Street and Army Trail and speed violations on Route 53 between
North Avenue and Army Trail on Thursday, February 13 and Thursday, March 6, 2008
from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Several crashes have occurred along Rt. 53 with Addison. It is against the law
to drive on the shoulder of a roadway. The shoulders along Route 53 have signs
that also prohibit driving on the shoulder; however, several vehicles continue
to disobey them. Route 53 has been expanded from North Avenue to Army Trail and
vehicles have been exceeding the speed limit.
The purpose of conducting this Special Traffic Enforcement is to enhance the
safety of the motoring public in the Village of Addison.
The Addison Police Department is determined to keep impaired drivers off the
streets of our community.
