NEW RECYCLING BINS TO BE DELIVERED TO RESIDENTS NEXT MONTH
Increased Capacity, Simplification Will Hopefully Increase
Participation
The Village of Addison and its contracted waste hauler, Allied Waste
Services, have announced that single-family residences will receive new larger
recycling bins, in an effort increase residents’ participation in the recycling
program. The new bins are funded in part by a fiscal year 2009 grant from the
Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
The 25-gallon bins will be distributed to residents – along with accompanying
educational materials – beginning Sept. 14. Everyone should receive theirs by
the end of the following week. These bins will replace the need for the
smaller recycling bins used currently, or recycling bags. Paper
and non-paper recyclables can be placed in the same bin; there
is no need for sorting. Residents who have a large quantity of
recyclables are able to keep their old bin, and place both at
the curb on their normal collection day. “We hope that by
making recycling even more convenient for our residents, we will
see increased participation to help preserve the environment,”
said Mayor Larry Hartwig. For a complete list of items that
are accepted, please visit the Village of Addison website at
AddisonAdvantage.org. ###
