PIZZA PARTY TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
9th
Annual ‘Addison By the Slice’ to be held August 3
National Night Out will be celebrated in many communities throughout the
suburbs, but in Addison tradition calls for residents to gather together, eat
pizza, and give out awards to Addison’s best pizzerias. So on Tuesday, Aug. 3,
the community is invited to the 9th Annual “Addison By the Slice” Pizza Bakeoff
on the Village Green, east of Village Hall at 1 Friendship Plaza, sponsored by
Itasca Bank and Trust and 95.9 The River.
The evening kicks off at 6 p.m., when 4 area pizza restaurants will begin
offering slices of pizza for just $1. Soft drinks, beer, wine and ice cream will
also be available for purchase. Entertainment will be provided by “Paparazzi,”
as part of the final Concerts in the Park series, presented by the Special
Events Commission and Cultural Arts Development Commission.
Once visitors have had the chance to sample various vendors’ offerings, they can
visit the Addison Police Department’s National Night Out Booth to cast a ballot
for the “People’s Choice Award” for favorite pizza in Addison.
Meanwhile, a panel of celebrity judges will determine the winners in various
categories during a blind taste test. Awards will be given for Best Sauce, Best
Cheese Pizza, Best Sausage Pizza, Best Deep Dish/Stuffed Pizza, Best Thin Crust
Pizza, Best Specialty Pizza, and Judges’ Choice, as well as the People’s Choice.
Winners will be announced shortly before 9 p.m.
Participating pizzerias include: John’s Pizza, Nardi’s Tower of Pizza, Pyramid
Club and Zio Tony’s Pizzeria.
Residents will have the opportunity to visit with 95.9 The River’s road crew.
Members of the Medinah Shrine Clowns will also visit with children, while their
parents have the opportunity to purchase tickets to the Village of Addison
Circus, coming Aug. 20 – 22. New
this year – Wood Dale Family Medicine will provide Wellness
Information during a Health Fair from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Village
Hall rotunda.
