All businesses are required to have a Village of Addison Business License to operate in the Village of Addison. The license is issued annually and is valid from January 1 through December 31. Vending or coin-operated machines also need to be licensed.
TO RENEW YOUR EXISTING BUSINESS LICENSE:

If you have an existing account in the portal.
a. Log in - Go to “My Items”
- Select “Add fees to cart”
- Make Payment
- If you do not have an existing account in the portal, use the link below to create an account.
- Enter Required Information
- “Next Step”
- Select “Yes” to link the account to existing business. You will need to enter the LCB number found on your renewal invoice
- An email will be sent to activate your new account
Once you receive the email that your account has been activated
- Log in
- Go to “My items”
- Select “Add fees to cart”
- Make Payment
Once our office receives the payment, a license will be mailed.
If necessary, please update information in “My profile” in the “My account” tab.
TO APPLY FOR A NEW BUSINESS LICENSE:
The following are processes that should occur before a business license is issued:
- To verify zoning and if the requested use is permitted at a particular location, contact Consuelo Arguilles at (630) 693-7525.
- If you would like to schedule an optional FREE pre-sale/pre-lease inspection, contact Olga at (630) 693-7521.
- Complete a business license application and submit it, along with $150 background fee plus $50 for each additional owner, to the Finance Department. Click here for our new online portal. Please contact Bridget at (630) 693-7573 with business license questions. Please submit a completed Wastewater Profile with your business license application. - The Addison Police Department will contact you to set up fingerprinting. There is an additional fee of $27 per person charged by the Illinois State Police that will be required at fingerprinting.
- Upon approval from the Police Department, you will receive a call to come in and pay your business license fee (based on square footage and type of business).
- Once your business is operating, you will receive a letter from the Community Development Department notifying you of your business license inspection date. Once your inspection has been approved by the inspector, your business license will be mailed to you.
