Branch pick up.
The Village of Addison has a branch pick-up program from April to October. On the 1st Monday of the month, a village-employed contractor will go thru all village streets (residential & business) to pick up branches cut to specification. Nothing over 8 feet long or 8 inches in diameter, cut side out toward the street, stacked in a neat pile. If logs are over 8 inches in diameter, they should be cut into 16 inch log lengths and placed separately from the branches. Root balls are considered yard waste and will not be picked up under the branch pick-up program.
The Village also picks up Christmas trees in January.

The sidewalk in front of my property has buckle/settled and is now a trip hazard. Who do I report that to?
How do I get this replaced? The Street Division will evaluate your sidewalk and let you know your options. It will be temporarily patched to prevent someone from tripping & falling.
There is graffiti sprayed on my building/property. Who do I report that to? Is there assistance in graffiti removal?
Please contact the Police Department at 630/543-3080 to obtain a police report. Next, please contact our Community Development Department at 630/693-7530 to sign a "Hold Harmless Agreement," which removes the Village from any liability. The Community Development Department will contact the Street Division for graffiti removal. The graffiti may be able to be removed, depending on the type of surface it is sprayed on.
The snow plow blocked the entrance to my driveway. Would the Village remove the snow?
The Village plows are not allowed to remove snow from the end of driveways. Snow plows are designed to discharge snow to the right of the vehicle. The Village of Addison strives to remove the snow from streets as quickly and safely as possible.
How often does the street sweeper sweep Village streets?
On average, once every two weeks with the exception of leaf season when it may take longer to complete the schedule. The Village currently has two street sweepers to ensure clean Village streets.
How would I dispose of an a/c, refrigerator, washing machine, dryer, oven, water heater, dishwasher, or large piece of furniture?
Furniture, and "white goods" (appliances) must be placed at the curb on the morning of regular scheduled pick-up. Allied Waste Customer Service at 800-345-1408 should be notified one day prior to collection.
When can I place trash at curbside?

What holidays cause a delay in trash/recycling collection?

What should I do if my trash/recycling, or landscape waste is not picked-up?
First confirm your actual collection day is correct. Next, make sure trash/recycling /landscape waste was placed at curbside in timely manner, and in proper containers. Landscape waste should be placed in containers with 2 Village of Addison stickers, or in brown paper yard waste bags. Recycling commodities should be placed in a Recycling Bin, or plastic bags with the Village of Addison Logo. How do I dispose of paint cans?
If paint cans are empty, you may dispose of them along with your regular trash. Latex-based paint, if left to dry to solid form, can also be placed with trash with the lids removed. You may add kitty litter, or saw dust to speed the drying process. All Oil-based paint is considered Household Hazardous material, and must be disposed of at the appropriate site. Our nearest is in Naperville.
How do Village residents recycle at curbside?
Recyclables may be placed at curb alongside regular trash, on your collection day. Resident's may use either a recycling bin provided by Allied Waste for a one-time $6 fee, which is added to your water bill, or you may use clear plastic bags with the Village of Addison's logo on them. These bags are available at Jewel or Len's Ace Hardware. There is no need to separate these items. They are separated at the Allied Waste facility.
How do I dispose of construction debris?
Construction debris collection is not included in the Village of Addison contract with Allied Waste. In order to arrange a pick-up for this material, call Allied Waste Customer Service at 708-345-7050. You will receive an estimate of cost for service.
Why am I ONLY allowed to use Allied Waste for trash removal?
The Village of Addison has entered into a Franchise Agreement with Allied Waste, to bring the most cost effective waste hauling services and fees to our residents. Within this agreement is a stipulation which states that ALL waste hauling in the Village limits must be contracted through Allied Waste.
Tree roots appear to be causing back-up in my home. Who can help me with this?
If roots that are causing blockage are from trees in the Village Right-of-Way (parkway), and access to the lateral sewer is viable, the Village will attempt to clear the line. The Village cannot clear blockages caused by trees on private property.
